SUMMARY:"Freedom to Read" Week February 24 - March 2\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:“Freedom to Read” Week is happening at SJ Burnside this year! There will be small presentations\, in-class activities\, and discussions regarding “banned books”. This week focuses on books and texts that were previously “challenged” but now are part of our everyday reading materials. Recently at the British Columbia Teacher Librarian’s Conference in Fall 2018\, Dr. Toni Samek\, from the University of Alberta\, discussed “Intellectual Freedom and Social Responsibility” in today’s school libraries. It is so important that we keep these discussions going in our schools!
